Gary Koetser

Joint CEO, Century City Conference Centre & Hotel

Experienced hospitality professional, Gary Koetser, currently holds the role of Joint CEO of Cape Town’s leading event venue: The Century City Conference Centre and Hotel.

Koetser has enjoyed a successful career as a hotelier – a career in which continuous growth and improvement have been major features. Gary has five qualifications and has completed an additional 19 courses along the way, as well as adding a number of outstanding achievements to his resumé.

In 2010, for example, Koetser was bestowed with the title of “GM of the Year”, making Gary the youngest GM of a 5-star hotel in South Africa at the time. As a spin-off of this accomplishment, he went on to complete the General Manager’s Programme at The Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in the United States of America. More recently, Gary has completed the Strategic Business Management course at Harvard University.

The pursuit of brilliance has been a key theme in Koetser’s career. After excelling in his role as the General Manager for three different Protea Hotels, Gary was approached to open the now-established Cape Town Marriott Hotel Crystal Towers in Century City. The establishment was, at the time, African Pride’s flagship South African property.

After progressing to Regional Manager for the Western Cape, overseeing 12 hotels, Koetser was headhunted and offered the opportunity to open the state-of-the-art establishment he jointly runs today.

Koetser’s vast experience within the hospitality industry, further complimented by the skills of his counterpart, Glyn Taylor, has driven Century City Conference Centre and Hotel to profound success. The conference centre experience is set apart by Koetser’s immaculate attention to detail, allowing the establishment to achieve the level of hospitality one would only experience at a world-class hotel.

His career success to date is a result of always putting people first. Gary truly nurtures lasting relationships, whether they are with guests, suppliers or his own employees. On that note, Gary has worked hard to create a culture of upliftment and blue-sky thinking. As a result, his staff are inspired to strive for distinction in everything that they do.
